Mazak's QTN 250-II MS, part of its NEXUS lathe range, both turns and mills, and its MS layout couples the main turning spindle to a second one for DONE IN ONE part processing. Up front, a 10 in chuck spins to 4000 rpm, the motor giving 35.0 hp / 26 kw for a 30 minute duty, and bar stock of 3.0 in passes through. The second spindle grips work in a 6 in chuck and is limited to 6000 rpm. Rotary tools on the 12 tool turret mill at up to 4500 rpm. A part may swing 26.57 in, measure 14.750 in in diameter and run 21.275 in long. X moves 9.00 in and Z 22.63 in. Tool measurement is automatic, a through-hole chuck is listed for headstock 1 only and as an option on headstock 2, and programs go in as Mazatrol conversational or EIA-ISO code. Bar feeders and gantry robot loaders could be fitted for fully automated running.
