What the maker published about the Mazak QTN 250MSY
Mazak's QTN 250MSY turns on two spindles and mills with rotary tools driven from its turret. A 10" chuck heads the main spindle; its 35 hp (26 kW) integrated motor gives 4,000 rpm, and the spindle doubles as a C axis indexed in 0.0001° steps. The second spindle carries a 6" chuck and runs to 6,000 rpm on 15 hp. The drum turret has 12 positions, and its rotary tool spindle, rated 7.5 hp (5.5 kW), drills, taps and mills. A Tool Eye presetter is standard; touching a tool tip to it registers nose offset and tool length data automatically, and it can be set to check tool wear at intervals. Control is by MAZATROL MATRIX NEXUS, which accepts conversational MAZATROL programs written at the machine while another part is cut, or programs made off line in CAD/CAM, and runs a 3D cycle simulation that checks for interference. Automation can range from a bar feeder to robot arms on a pedestal or overhead mount.
