Shibaura Machine lists the TMD-13 as a vertical boring and turning mill with a live spindle. The swing and cut figure is 1,600 mm (63 in) and the cut height is 1,100 mm (43.3 in). The Z stroke is 800 mm (31.4 in), the X stroke runs from minus 630 mm to 920 mm, and the crossrail has 500 mm of vertical travel that is not an NC axis. The bed is cast iron with ribs that support the whole table, the layout is thermally symmetrical, and a lubricant oil cooling unit is standard. A portable handwheel feed unit covers the X, Z and C axes. Scale feedback on those three axes, a pallet changer for two, four, six or eight pallets, a Renishaw touch probe and a Renishaw tool length probe are optional.

This is a 50-taper spindle — the 7:24 steep taper that CAT-50, BT-50 and DIN 69871 (SK-50) holders all share. They share the taper and nothing else that matters: the retention knob and the flange form differ between those standards, so holders do not swap between them without changing pull studs.
