What the Okuma VTM-2000YB is
The Okuma VTM-2000YB is a CNC vertical boring and turning mill — a machine for turning and boring large-diameter, short work on a horizontal rotary table — rings, hubs, casings and flanges too big or too heavy to hang off a horizontal lathe. The manufacturer publishes a max turning diameter of ø2,000 (78.74).
What it is built to do
From the figures the manufacturer publishes, a Okuma VTM-2000YB suits:

Selling a used Okuma VTM-2000YB
Okuma's February 2020 brochure covers the VTM-1200YB and VTM-2000YB together and offers two controls on them, the OSP-P300SA or a FANUC 31i-B. It gives the OSP a 15-inch touch panel and the FANUC a 10.4 in color screen, so the panel tells the two apart at a glance. Lead with the control model when you describe the machine, since a buyer's programmers will ask for it before anything else.
On the 2000YB the table is ø1,400 mm as built, while the bracketed option is ø2,000 mm. Standard turning speed spans 4 to 300 min-1; with the high power spindle option the ceiling drops to 200 min-1. Measure the table across its jaws, check the table speed limit the control will accept, and list every boring mill jaw that stays with the machine.
The B axis on the H1 turret swings 150 degrees, from minus 30 to plus 120. In standard form it indexes in 0.001 degree steps, and simultaneous 5-axis cutting needs the NC B-axis option. Look for that option on the order sheet or the parameter list before calling the machine a 5-axis unit. The brochure also makes the C-axis control rated at ±2.3 sec indexing standard on the 2000YB, where the smaller model carries it as an option.
The standard magazine carries 36 tools, with 60-tool chain and 120-tool matrix magazines on the option list, and the shank is MAS BT50 with CAPTO C8 and HSK-A100 marked as alternatives. Count the pockets, name the shank, and say how many holders go with the machine. Okuma also lists a shuttle-type 2-pallet APC with a setup station; when one is fitted, name it next to the model.

What years the Okuma VTM-2000YB was built
The one unit we have seen listed was a 2014. Observed across 25 marketplaces, not a manufacturer build record. The manufacturer specifies OSP-P300SA, FANUC 31i-B, so a unit on an older control is an early one or a retrofit.
What affects the value of a used Okuma VTM-2000YB

- Against the published figures. The manufacturer gives max spindle speed 4 to 300 [4 to 200], spindle motor power 30/22 (40/30) (30 min/cont), tool capacity 36 [60, 120] and chuck size ø2,000 (78.74).
What to check on an Okuma VTM-2000YB
The same list whichever side of the deal you are on.
- Hour meters. Hour meters for power-on, spindle run time and NC operating time appear among the options Okuma offers on it. If they are fitted, photograph that screen and keep the image with the plate photo; if not, say so.
- Table brake under a milling cut. The 2000YB takes a 10,000 kg workpiece, and a disc brake by the spindle clamps the table for milling at 13,000 N-m. Clamp the C axis in a milling cycle and watch the table for any creep.
- Twin ball screws on X and Z. Z runs on two ball screws, and on the 2000YB the X axis has a twin drive as well. Jog each of those axes end to end and listen for one side laboring against the other.
- The milling tool spindle. Okuma rates the H1 turret's tool spindle from 40 up to 10,000 min-1, with 37/30/22 kW. Run it at its top speed for a while and record any heat or noise at the nose.
- Which chip conveyor. Chip conveyors are optional here, in hinge, scraper, magnetic scraper and drum filter types, and Okuma warns that some of them need a machine platform. Record the conveyor type and whether its platform comes with it.
- Roof door for crane loading. The ceiling door opens straight above the spindle so work can go in by crane. Open it all the way and see that it stays open on its own.
- Spindle bearings and gear head. Okuma Europe says the work spindle is held at two places by large diameter roller bearings and driven through a geared head. Run the table through its gear ranges and listen at each change.
