Okuma's MU-6300V belongs to the MU-V series of universal centers, which Okuma describes as combining turning with 5-axis multitasking machining on a trunnion table. The table is 630 mm in diameter. 40-taper toolholders
This is a 40-taper spindle — the 7:24 steep taper that CAT-40, BT-40 and DIN 69871 (SK-40) holders all share. They share the taper and nothing else that matters: the retention knob and the flange form differ between those standards, so holders do not swap between them without changing pull studs. Knowing which standard a machine was tooled for is worth doing before the holders are packed. HSK-A63 is offered as an OPTION on this model, so a given machine may or may not have it. It is a different interface from the taper above, and worth confirming on the machine itself rather than from the model number.

What to check on an Okuma MU-6300V
- Control generation. The manufacturer specifies OSP-P300MA for this model, with OSP-P300SA offered as an option. Units we have tracked run 2015 to 2020; an early one may carry an older control or a retrofit.
- Spindle. The manufacturer gives a spindle speed of 10,000 min-1. Run the spindle to top speed and listen for bearing noise.
- Spindle load. The manufacturer gives 11/7.5 kW of spindle power. Take a heavy cut and watch the load meter.
- Spindle taper. The manufacturer gives a spindle taper of 7/24 taper No.40 <HSK-A63>. Check it for fretting and that the drawbar holds a tool.
- Axes and way covers. The manufacturer gives X 925 (36.42), Y 1,050 (41.34) (+100 ATC movements) and Z 600 (23.62) of travel. Run each axis end to end and check the way covers.

- Rigging and floor. The manufacturer gives a machine weight of 17,500 (38,500). Confirm the rigging route and the floor will take that.
