Mazak's VERTICAL CENTER NEXUS 510C/50-II mills vertically and carries a 50 taper spindle, made in either a standard or a high torque version. Twenty four tools load into its magazine. Counted in millimeters, the strokes are 1050 on X, 510 on Y and 585 on Z, over a 1300 mm by 550 mm table. At most the spindle turns 6000 rpm, and the motor delivers 30.0 hp / 22 kw when rated over 30 minutes. A Mazatrol Matrix Nexus control handles conversational or EIA programming, and an NC rotary table was an option. Mx roller guides run under all three axes, the control swings on its mount, and articulated robots can be linked in for process automation. Five Intelligent Machine functions are named: IMS for preventive maintenance data, ITS heat displacement compensation, ISS guarding while setting up or running by hand, Active Vibration Control and the spoken Mazak Voice Advisor.
