Mazak builds the 250MSY to turn and mill on one bed, adding Y-axis motion and a second spindle; the maker's lineup lists it with a VDI turret. Its specification sheet covers two universal types, the 500U and the 1000U, given as 20" and 40". Both swing Φ27" and machine parts up to Φ15" across, while machining length is 21" on the 500U and 36" on the 1000U. Bar work capacity is Φ3". A 10" chuck sits on the main spindle, which reaches 4000 rpm; its motor is rated 26 kW (35 HP) over 30 minutes. On the second spindle a 6" chuck turns at up to 6000 rpm on 11 kW (15 HP) for 30 minutes. The turret holds 12 tools. Both types travel 9" in X and 4" in Y. Z moves 23" on the 500U and 43" on the 1000U, and the W axis that carries the second spindle moves 23" and 37" in the same order.

On Mazak's 2017 page the QT 250MSY turns, mills on its Y axis and passes work to a second turning spindle so a part comes off finished in one machine, and its new direct-drive turret drops the belts, which Mazak links to better surface finish and less upkeep.
