Mazak gave the QTU-250MS three working units: a main turning spindle, a second spindle that takes parts over from the first chuck for a secondary operation, and a turret whose rotary spindle mills, drills and taps. Built in Kentucky, this small-footprint multi-tasking lathe reaches 4500 rpm on its main spindle with 20.0 hp / 15 kw rated for 1 minute. Second-spindle work goes in a 6 in chuck, at speeds to 6000 rpm, and that spindle's motor gives 10.0 hp / 8 kw. Of the 12 turret tools, the driven ones also run to 4500 rpm. Its single 500 mm bed admits a 27.40 in swing, a cut diameter of 13.500 in and a machined length of 22.685 in, with bar up to 2.0 in. Z travels 23.75 in and W 23.00 in. A one-piece cover guards the Z ways, and a GR100 gantry loader was optional.
