What the maker published about the Mazak QTU-250
Mazak fitted its QTU-250, a compact CNC turning center made in Kentucky, with one main turning spindle, one tool turret and a fully programmable tailstock driven by an NC servo. Spindle and motor are laid out so that no belts or pulleys are needed, and the spindle carries an 8 in chuck to 4500 rpm on 20.0 hp / 15 kw, a 1 minute rating. Just one bed length was printed, 500 mm. Within a 27.40 in swing, parts can be machined to 16.250 in across and 23.659 in long, and the bar limit is 2.0 in. Twelve tools load on the turret, whose integral motor handles digital indexing. Axis strokes are 8.50 in on X and 25.00 in on Z, and the table also prints 22.13 in for a W axis. Optional equipment included the GR100 gantry loader.
