What the maker published about the Mazak QTN 350 M
Mazak announced the Nexus QTN-350M as the step that took its Nexus turning line into multi-tasking, the M marking milling. One workpiece could be turned, milled, drilled, tapped and bored without a second setup. A 12-inch chuck is carried by an integral spindle and motor of 40 Hp reaching 3,300 rpm, and a rotary tool spindle of 10 Hp runs to 4,000 rpm. Rotary and turning tools may go in any of the 12 stations on the drum turret, which indexes one position in 0.25 seconds, and its tool holders are swapped with one turn of a wrench. The X axis traverses at 1181 ipm and Z at 984 ipm. Control is the Mazatrol Fusion 640T Nexus, whose bar feeder schedule function is standard, while the bar feeder itself was optional, as was a PCMCIA interface for networking. A servo-driven NC tailstock needs no hand adjustment, the Tool Eye presetting arm is standard, and the machine was built in Florence, KY.
