Mazak's QTN 400-II M is a CNC turning center of the M form, in which a rotary tool milling spindle works beside the integral main turning spindle so that turning and milling of a part happen in one setup. Mazak described it for workpieces of larger diameter and set out three bed lengths for it. Programs for the Matrix Nexus CNC may be written in EIA-ISO or as Mazatrol conversational input, both standard. Other items on the equipment list are an indexing turret, a tailstock that the CNC programs, through-hole chucking, a tool eye that measures automatically, plus automation that could be fitted. Under intelligent machine functions the page names maintenance support for preventive upkeep, a thermal shield that compensates for heat displacement, a safety shield covering setup and manual operation, and the Mazak Voice Advisor, a spoken aid for setup and for confirming safe conditions.
