Mazak aimed the HCN-6800 horizontal machining center at large, heavy parts made in quantity, and a two-pallet changer came as standard. Each pallet is 24.800 in / 630 mm, and work as tall as 51.180 in / 1300 mm fits. Travel is 41.34 in on X, 35.43 in on Y and 38.58 in on Z. Mazak built three integral motor spindle types for it, standard, high-speed and high-torque, so the spindle could be matched to the job. Two spindle builds appear in Mazak's figures: one with a No.50 taper turning 10000 rpm and one with an HSK A-100 taper at 6000 rpm, both rated 50.0 hp / 37 kw on a 30 minute rating. Each build lists 43 tools, and Mazak lists other magazine capacities. Mazak also offered a Hard Metal (HM) version for heavy cutting of titanium, Inconel and similar tough materials. Mazak's PALLETECH System can link it into an automated cell.
