Mori Seiki aimed the NZ1500 T2Y, a multi-axis machine with two headstocks and two turrets, at mass production. Each headstock has a 61 mm spindle bore and turns at no more than 6,000 min-1, a figure the workholding and tooling chosen may not allow. The bar limit is 52 mm, turned work may reach 320 mm across before it meets the turret cover, and turned length is capped at 260 mm. Both turrets move 210 mm in X and 810 mm in Z, while only turret 1 carries a Y axis, its 110 mm split 65 mm plus and 45 mm minus. Spindle 2 rides a B axis of 920 mm. Sixteen stations on each turret give 32 tools in all; driven tools reach 6,000 min-1 standard and 12,000 min-1 optionally.
