What the maker publishes about the current DMG MORI NTX1000

DMG MORI's NTX 1000 is a turn and mill machine from the NTX Series; the maker now shows the NTX 1000 in its 3rd Generation. Its B axis carries a direct drive motor, turns through a range of 240° at 100 rpm, and lets the machine cut in simultaneous five axes. A Capto C5 tool spindle is fitted as standard and runs to 12,000 rpm; a 20,000 rpm version is an option. The axes travel 455 mm on X, 210 mm on Y and 800 mm on Z. Work can measure 430 mm in diameter and 800 mm in length, and bars of up to 65 mm pass through. Oil circulating inside the body cools the machine against thermal displacement, and the bed runs on a linear motion guide. Control alternatives are SIEMENS and MAPPS Fanuc. Optional automation includes an in-machine travelling robot (IMTR) and a workpiece unloader; on the NTX 1000 the IMTR moves up to 12 kg with FANUC or 10 kg with KUKA.

What the DMG MORI NTX1000 is used for

Mori Seiki's 2010 launch release aimed the NTX1000 mill-turn machine at small parts with detailed shapes, such as components for medical equipment and measuring instruments.

What to check on a DMG MORI NTX1000

  • Control generation. The manufacturer specifies SIEMENS, MAPPS Fanuc for this model. Units we have tracked run 2011 to 2020; an early one may carry an older control or a retrofit.
  • Axes and way covers. The manufacturer gives X 455 mm, Y 210 mm and Z 800 mm of travel. Run each axis end to end and check the way covers.
  • Bar work. The manufacturer gives a bar capacity of 65 mm. Check any bar feeder is set for that bar.
  • Bed and ways. The manufacturer gives a max turning diameter of 430 mm and a max turning length of 800 mm. Check the ways for wear near the chuck.
