What the maker published about the DMG MORI ZL-153/SMC
Mori Seiki's German page lists the ZL-153SMC as a CNC lathe for synchronized, two process machining, fitted with a pair of turrets and a pair of headstocks. Headstock 1 covers a range of 50 to 5,000 min-1. Headstock 2 covers 60 to 6,000 min-1 and slides 555 mm along a B axis of its own. Measured across, a part can be 440 mm when cut from turret 1 but only 322 mm from turret 2. The diameter quoted as standard is 170 mm, and anything handed over to headstock 2 has to stay within 135 mm. Turned lengths reach 471 mm. On turret 1 the X stroke is 235 mm (220 plus 15) and the Z stroke 545 mm; turret 2 has 175 mm (161 plus 14) and 490 mm. Each turret has 12 stations, all of which accept driven tools. Those tools spin at 3,000 min-1, and turret 1 can be specified at 4,000 min-1 instead.
