Mori Seiki's NL2000SY/500 pairs its Y axis with a second spindle, and the maker lists it within the NL2000 range as a turning center for two-sided continuous machining. Its second spindle moves 624 mm on a B axis and turns at up to 6,000 min-1, while the first is rated 5,000 min-1. X travels 260 mm, Z 590 mm, and Y 100 mm split evenly at ±50 mm. The largest turned diameter is 356 mm and the standard one 275 mm, with lengths to 510 mm. Its turret has 12 tool positions, or 10 on the optional head, and rotary tools reach 6,000 min-1. Certain jigs or tools can keep both spindles from their rated speeds, a caution printed beneath the table.

Mori Seiki's 2004 English page calls the NL2000SY/500 a dual-process turning center with Y-axis control: a second headstock, rated 6,000 rpm against 5,000 for the first, picks up the part so work moves on to its other end without a reload.

An English Mori Seiki page for the NL2000SY/500 was captured in July 2004, so this twin-spindle model was in production in 2004 or before.
