AMADA AMERICA's page on the EMK M2 Series of turret punch presses covers the EMK-3612 M2, and one line applies to this model alone: a 10'x5' sheet can be punched without repositioning. Two AC servo motors drive the ram, coupled directly to the drive shaft, which the maker says joins the simple clutch and brake design of its original presses to the speed of the fastest hydraulic rams. With no hydraulic unit there is no oil-cooling chiller, and the page claims it uses as much as 70% less electricity than a typical hydraulic machine. The control sets how fast the ram moves, how far it strokes, how high it hovers and how long it holds, to cut tool wear and punching noise. The triple-track King turret carries 58 or 55 stations; either layout has two 4 1/2" and two 1 1/4" auto-index stations. The press can form flanges and embossments as tall as 1/2", holding at the bottom of the stroke for a programmed dwell. Air Blow Oil Mist lubricates the tooling, a power vacuum stops slug pulling, and a brush table keeps sheets free of scratches. The PC-based network CNC stands apart from the machine.
