Used Tacchi Machines We Buy
Used Tacchi CNC lathes are heavy-duty Italian turning machines, and Machine Tool Exchange buys them straight from the shops that own them. This hub runs 70 listings, mostly large turning equipment: HD flat bed heavy-duty lathes, FTC flat bed CNC turning machines, and DB double bed heavy-duty lathes. Here is what is in the book and what moves an offer.

How Selling Your Tacchi Works
Tell us what you have
Send the designation off the Tacchi data plate (an HD, FTC or DB, for example), the year, the CNC make on the machine and its condition. Turning diameter, distance between centres and any milling or grinding units fitted help us, but they are not required.
Get a quote within 24-48 hours
We price the specific Tacchi in front of you rather than the nameplate, and come back with an offer, usually within 24 to 48 hours. You are under no obligation to take it.
We can arrange rigging, freight and the pickup
Accept the offer and we can arrange the rigging, crating, freight and pickup, planned around the length of the bed and how the lathe actually sits on your floor.

Who Builds Tacchi Lathes
Tacchi lathes come from Tacchi Giacomo e Figli S.p.A., an Italian builder of heavy duty lathes, turning centres, multitasking machines and deep hole borers of medium and large size. The company says it has been operating for over 70 years, and its headquarters and plant are in Castano Primo, Italy.
Tacchi runs what it calls an integrated vertical model: design, machining, assembly, electrical equipment and final test all happen at Castano Primo, and it describes the result as a 100% Made in Italy machine tool. Its quality management system is certified to UNI EN ISO 9001:2015.
Tacchi's Lathe Ranges and Deep Hole Borers
Tacchi builds two kinds of machine: heavy duty lathes and deep hole drilling machines. Its lathes are exclusively flat bed CNC machines, offered in three ranges: two-slideway lathes with a monolithic bed, four-slideway lathes with a monolithic bed, and double bed lathes, which Tacchi calls the DB Series. One two-slideway series uses a sliding bed split into a lower and an upper part, so the gap opens up for flanged parts; Tacchi names aerospace components as a common use. Tacchi also says one of its lathe series runs to 6 models, each in an L and an H variant.
On the DB Series, one bed carries the headstock and tailstock and a second, separate bed carries the turning saddle, with weights between centres up to 320 tons; turbine rotors and generator shafts for power generation are its most common work. Across the range, Tacchi lists machines reaching 6 meters of turning diameter and distances between centres that can exceed 30 meters. On the deep hole side it offers 6 series, all in EN-GJL-300 cast iron, with drilling depths well beyond 25 meters, and for over 50 years it has built deep hole borers for drill collars in the oil industry.
Reading a Tacchi Before We Quote It
A Tacchi is rarely a stock machine. The company says it studies each customer request and builds tailor-made solutions, so two units that share a family name can differ a great deal. The first things we place are the bed range (two-slideway, four-slideway or DB double bed), the turning diameter and the distance between centres.
Next come the units added to the basic X and Z axes. Tacchi fits milling devices that turn the spindle into a C axis, full milling columns with a programmable Y axis and a B axis for orienting the spindle, grinding heads with wheels up to 1000 mm, and supports for boring bars up to 16 times as long as their diameter. Its steady rests come closed-type, C-type, bridge-type, self-centering or hydrostatic, and some machines carry single or double hydrostatic saddles. Each of those widens the work the next owner can take on, so list every unit and steady rest that stays with the lathe.
Tacchi Service and Retrofits, or Selling Outright
Tacchi supports its machines after delivery. Its own trained engineers handle repairs, installation and scheduled maintenance, a remote link runs through a device Tacchi calls the Tacchi Unit, and spare parts ship from a large warehouse in Italy and a second one in the USA. Tacchi also offers a complete retrofit, or just a new-generation CNC in place of the old one, to bring an older lathe or deep hole driller back to a precision in line with new machines.
That route suits a Tacchi you plan to keep in production. If the machine is surplus to you, MTE buys it outright as a direct buyer, and a past Tacchi retrofit or CNC replacement is worth mentioning when you send us the details.
What Is in the Tacchi Book Right Now
Tacchi is the only brand in this hub, and the book runs 70 listings. Fifty-one of those 70 are CNC Lathes, the largest category here by a wide margin. Another 16 sit under Metal Cutting, and the tail is three single units: one CNC press brake, one CNC deep hole drilling machine, and one CNC miscellaneous machine. So 19 of the 70 are something other than a CNC lathe, which is worth knowing if the Tacchi on your floor is not a flat bed turning machine. Across those 70 listings there are 55 distinct models, so most designations appear only once and every unit gets scoped on its own model, control and condition rather than against a nameplate average. Of the listings that carry a build year, the span runs from 1985 to 2015. The other 27 carry no year at all, which is common on machines this old and this heavy.
Tacchi Model Families We See Most
HD is the largest model family in this hub at 32 of the 70 listings. HD is Tacchi's heavy-duty flat bed line, the machine most shops picture when they hear the name. HD3 follows with 7 listings, and FTC, the flat bed CNC turning line, also has 7. FTF accounts for 4, DB double bed and FT for 3 each, and FTC100 and FTA for 2 each. Those families cover 60 of the 70 listings, so a handful of one-off designations sit outside them. HD 1450 CNC and HD 1000 are the units that repeat most, at 3 listings each. Behind them, HD/3 105L X 7000, HD/4, HD/1450, DB 132 HS TYPE 14X7000 and FTF-1600 each show up twice. HD and HD3 are counted separately here rather than rolled into one number, because a Tacchi HD/3 and a plain HD are not the same machine to the shop buying it.
What Moves the Number on a Used Tacchi
Swing and distance between centers are the first two figures, and on a number of Tacchi units they are sitting right in the model designation. HD/3 105L X 7000, HD/1450 X 4M, HD/3-90L-600X10000 and HS 1000 x 7000-10000 mm all carry the capacity in the name, so a photo of the data plate often answers the first two questions before anyone picks up the phone. After that comes control make and generation, since we buy Tacchi machines running Fanuc and Siemens alike, then bed and way wear, spindle and headstock condition, steady rests and whatever tooling comes with it, and whether the machine still holds tolerance. Jason Puuri weighs those himself instead of running them through a formula, which is why a high-hour machine with a clean bed and full steady rests can scope better than a lower-hour unit left sitting outside. A quote typically comes back within 24 to 48 hours.
Have This Ready Before You Call
Data plate model and serial number, build year, swing and distance between centers, control make and generation, the tooling and steady rests that go with the machine, and whether it is still under power. That last one matters. A machine we can see running scopes differently from one shut down two years ago. Either one is fine as long as we know which it is. Photos are not required, but three of them do most of the work: the control screen, the data plate, and one wide shot showing how the machine actually sits on the floor. That third photo carries more weight on a Tacchi than on a typical vertical machining center. These are long flat bed lathes, and the rigging plan gets built around the real footprint and the path out of the building rather than a catalog dimension. MTE can arrange rigging, crating and freight, in all 50 states.
The Rest of the Tacchi Lineup We Buy
What we buy runs wider than what is in the book today. We buy Tacchi HS high swing lathes for large-diameter work, LCB large CNC lathes, BM turning centers and the TLC line, plus roll lathes for steel mill work and pipe threading lathes for oil and gas. If your model is not one we currently have listed, that has no bearing on an offer. The same goes for the non-lathe side. Nineteen of the 70 listings here are not CNC Lathes, covering metal cutting equipment along with a CNC press brake, a CNC deep hole drilling machine and one miscellaneous CNC machine, so a Tacchi that is not a flat bed lathe is still something we scope and quote. Condition works the same way. Running production, sitting idle since a job ended, or needing work before it cuts again all get evaluated, and none of the three disqualifies a machine.
Clearing a Floor: Selling Direct Instead of Listing
MTE is a direct buyer, not a broker, an auction platform or a listing service. You are selling the machine to us rather than waiting while we look for someone else to take it. No listing, no broker, and the pickup arranged for you. MTE is an affiliate of Superior Machine and Tool and has been buying used CNC equipment since 2012. If the floor is mixed, the rest of it goes on the same quote and the same pickup schedule. Mazak, Okuma, Doosan, DMG MORI, Toshiba and Makino all move through MTE regularly and have their own pages on this site, so a Tacchi flat bed lathe and the machining centers beside it are not two separate conversations. One lathe or a full row during a changeover works the same way, and each still gets scoped on its own model, control and condition.

Common questions
Who buys used Tacchi machines?
Machine Tool Exchange does. We buy the full Tacchi line nationwide as a direct buyer, not a listing service or auction platform. You sell to us, not a third party.
How much is a used Tacchi lathe worth?
It depends on model, build year, swing, distance between centers, condition and tooling. Send those details and we quote the specific machine, not the nameplate.
Do you buy Tacchi machines with Fanuc or Siemens controls?
Both. Control make and generation get scoped alongside hours and condition, but neither one decides whether we buy the machine.
What industries use Tacchi heavy-duty lathes?
Oil and gas for pipe threading and drill collar work, power generation for turbine shafts, steel mills for rolls, and heavy manufacturing needing long beds and large swing.
Will you buy a Tacchi that is not currently running?
Yes. Running production, sitting idle or needing work all get evaluated. Say which upfront so the scope and pickup plan are accurate.
Can you arrange rigging and freight on a machine this size?
Yes. For a Tacchi this size we can arrange the rigging, crating, freight and pickup in all 50 states.
Do you buy Tacchi deep bore and pipe threading lathes?
Yes. One thing to know first: Tacchi's DB line is its double bed heavy-duty lathe, not a deep bore machine, and Tacchi builds its deep hole drilling machines as a separate line. Three DB double bed units are in this book now, and we buy Tacchi deep hole drilling machines and the pipe threading and roll lathe lines as well.
Can I sell other brands along with my Tacchi?
Yes, on one quote and one pickup schedule. Mazak, Okuma, Doosan and DMG MORI equipment moves through MTE regularly and can go on the same run.
Where are Tacchi lathes made?
Tacchi lathes and deep hole drilling machines are built by Tacchi Giacomo e Figli in Castano Primo, Italy. Tacchi says every step, from design and machining through assembly, electrical work and final test, is done at that headquarters, and calls each machine 100% Made in Italy.
Does Tacchi have a presence in the USA?
Tacchi builds its machines in Italy, but it keeps a second spare parts warehouse in the USA alongside its large one in Italy. For service it sends its own trained engineers and connects remotely through a device it calls the Tacchi Unit. If you are selling a Tacchi rather than servicing it, we buy it outright.
How deep can a Tacchi deep hole drilling machine drill?
Tacchi says its deep hole drilling machines reach drilling depths well beyond 25 meters, across 6 series built in EN-GJL-300 cast iron. They handle solid drilling, trepanning, boring, skiving, roller-burnishing and bottle boring for internal profiles. Tell us the series and the maximum depth of yours when you ask for an offer.
What is a Tacchi DB lathe?
On Tacchi's own product page, the DB Series is its double bed heavy duty lathe: one bed carries the headstock and tailstock, and a separate bed carries the turning saddle. Tacchi rates it for weights between centres up to 320 tons and names turbine rotors and generator shafts as its most common work.
Thinking about selling Tacchi Machines?
Swing and distance between centers sit right in the model designation on a number of Tacchi units, so one photo of the data plate gets a conversation most of the way there. HD flat bed lathes are 32 of the 70 here. Jason Puuri scopes yours himself and quotes in 24 to 48 hours, and MTE can arrange rigging, crating and freight.
