Used UNISIG Machines We Buy
Used UNISIG deep hole drilling machines are the whole of this page: 41 listings, one nameplate, one category. Machine Tool Exchange buys them outright from the companies that own them, no broker and no consignment. UNI is the largest group at eight, then B500 and USK50 at five each. Here is what we look at before we make an offer.

How Selling Your UNISIG Works
Tell us which UNISIG you have
Use the form or call with the full model string off the UNISIG plate (a UNI, B-Series, USK, USC or UNE machine), the serial number, whether it runs gundrill or BTA tooling, its rated depth and diameter, and the spindle count. Photos of the bed, the drill tubes and the coolant system help but are not required.

Who Builds UNISIG Machines
UNISIG machines are built by UNISIG, a product division of Entrust Manufacturing Technologies, Inc., a privately held US company. UNISIG's history page dates the brand to 1981, when the Swiss Industrial Company (SIG) and the US firm United Technical founded it in Elgin, Illinois, to supply deep hole drilling equipment to the US market. Entrust, founded in 1973 by John Korosec in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, acquired the UNISIG brand in 1995 and moved it to its headquarters near Milwaukee.
In 2011 UNISIG added a German subsidiary, UNISIG GmbH, for sales and service in Europe; it is based in Bad Urach. A UNISIG plate from the Elgin years and one from Wisconsin are the same brand under two owners, and both belong on this page.
Where UNISIG Machines Are Made
UNISIG says its machines are engineered and manufactured in the USA, at its global headquarters in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. Its history page tracks the plant's growth: 50-ton cranes and a 12 meter high-bay assembly in 2010, a tech center for deep hole drilling prototypes in 2013, and more than 100,000 square feet of facilities by 2019. UNISIG reports installations across the Americas, Europe and Asia. Wherever a used one was installed, we price it on its capacity and condition.
UNISIG's Machine Lines
UNISIG sorts its deep hole drilling machines by the job. The UNE series is its compact gundrilling line for job shops, rated for holes up to 40 mm and workpieces up to 3,000 mm long. UNI machines are single and multiple spindle production drills that run gundrills, BTA tools or both, often with automation. B-Series machines BTA-drill on-center holes in round parts, in two ranges split at 800 mm of swing. USK machines are knee- or table-type off-center gundrills, and USC column-type machines drill non-round workpieces up to 50 tons. USC-M machines add milling to deep hole drilling, S-Series machines skive and roller burnish, and UNR and R-series machines ream and rifle barrel blanks.
Our UNISIG listings fall mostly in the UNI, B-Series and USK families, with USC and UNE machines among them; the sections below break the listings down.
Reading a UNISIG B-Series Number
UNISIG's B-Series spec tables give each model's swing over the bed, and on every size listed the swing in millimeters matches the number in the model name:
| Model | Swing over bed |
|---|---|
| B380 | 380 mm |
| B500 | 500 mm |
| B600 | 600 mm |
| B700 | 700 mm (also offered in a Drop Bed configuration for more swing) |
| B850 | 850 mm |
| B1000 | 1,000 mm |
| B1200 | 1,200 mm |
| B1600 | 1,600 mm |
| B2000 | 2,000 mm |
These are the nine sizes on UNISIG's two B-Series pages today. A machine built to another size, or before this lineup, may not appear here, so send the plate.
Older USK Sizes Next to Today's Lineup
UNISIG's current USK page lists four gundrilling sizes: the USK12-2 and USK20-2, which carry two spindles, and the single-spindle USK25 and USK40. The USK38, USK50 and USK75 in our listings are not on that page, so for those the plate and the machine's own capacity tell us more than today's catalog can. The B500 and B600 in our listings share their names with current B-Series sizes, and UNI is still a current UNISIG series.
UNISIG Service and Relocation, or Selling Outright
UNISIG's service team offers phone and email support, remote diagnostics on machines fitted with its Secure Remote Maintenance system, on-site troubleshooting and repair, preventative maintenance, machine alignment and machine relocation, and it logs service history against each machine's serial number. If you plan to keep the drill and move it, UNISIG offers that work.
If you plan to sell it, send us the serial number and any UNISIG service record with the details. A logged history of repairs and alignments helps a buyer trust a deep hole drill they cannot test-run.
What Is in the UNISIG Book Right Now
Forty-one machines carry the UNISIG nameplate here, and that count is exact rather than rounded off a sample. UNISIG is the only brand on the page, so there is no sorting by nameplate to do. All 41 file under one category, CNC Deep Hole Drilling Machines, so there is no sub-split to check and no second listing view to open. That makes this a narrow page rather than a broad one, and it is worth saying plainly instead of dressing it up. Build years are thinner than the machine count suggests: only seven of the 41 listings record a year, and those seven run 1999 to 2021. That is why we ask a seller for the year off the plate rather than inferring it from the model. For scale, on our deep hole drilling machine page UNISIG is the largest of the six brands listed there, carrying 41 of the 61 machines on it.
UNISIG Model Groups, and Why the Full String Matters
Seven repeating groups cover 26 of the 41 rows. UNI leads at eight, B500 and USK50 sit at five apiece, and USK75, USK38, KSG and B600 each show up twice. The remaining 15 rows sit below that two-count cutoff. The useful part for a seller is not the roll-up, it is the string itself. Under a single prefix these machines are not interchangeable. USK50, USK50-1000, USK50 500, USK50 BTA-2000 and USK50-BTA2000 are five separate rows here, and a shop hunting one of them is not shopping for the other four. The same holds on the UNI side, where UNI-20-2-500 BTA, UNI-20-6-1000, UNI-6-4-2I, UNI-T25-2I-45, UNI-25HD-2-250 and UNI-50BTA all sit under one prefix and none of them substitutes for another. UNE6-750-CR shares its first two letters with UNI and is a different designation again. So give us the full string off the data plate, not the shorthand people use around the shop.
Gun Drill or BTA: Which UNISIG You Have
Both drilling methods sit under this one nameplate, and they are not the same sale. What separates gun drilling from BTA, and which one suits which job, is covered in full on our CNC deep hole drilling machines page rather than repeated here. What is UNISIG-specific, and genuinely useful when you are selling, is that on this nameplate the method is usually legible from the designation itself. Seven of the model strings in this book carry BTA right in the name: UNI-20-2-500 BTA, UNI-50BTA, USK50 BTA-2000, USK50-BTA2000, USK75-200BTA-CR, B500 BTA and BTA-2000. Not every builder is that plain about it on the plate. It matters before condition ever comes up, because BTA machines and gun drills serve different shops, so the designation changes who wants the machine. If your plate does not say either way, describe the bar and the coolant setup and we will place it correctly before anyone talks about a number.
Discontinued UNISIG Models Still Get an Offer
Some of what sits in this book is a configuration UNISIG no longer lists, such as the USK38, USK50 and USK75; other names here, like the UNI and the B500 and B600, are still in UNISIG's lineup. For a seller that is not a mark against the machine. It is the reason a shop that wants one has to buy it used at all. Catalog availability is not what we look at. We look at whether the machine still holds tolerance, whether the control is serviceable and parts are still reachable, whether the boring bars, whip guides, bushings and tooling are coming with it, and whether it is still under power. Any condition works: running, sitting idle since the job that paid for it ended, or needing spindle work. The one-off designations here, M-1146, M1121-2, USC-M38 and USC75-1500 among them, get scoped the same way. Say the condition upfront rather than letting us find it at the dock. An offer built on an accurate description holds at pickup. One built on an optimistic description gets revised.
What Moves the Number on a Used UNISIG
Drilling capacity comes first, meaning max depth and max diameter. On UNISIG the designation usually carries numbers right in the string, which is why UNI-20-6-1000, USK50 500, USK75-200BTA-CR, USC75-1500, UNE6-750-CR and KSG-1000NC look like they are telling you something before anyone opens a spec sheet. Outside the B-Series, whose model number UNISIG's spec tables match to the swing over the bed, we do not read specs into these designations, so give us the real depth and diameter off the machine. After capacity: spindle count and spindle specs, control type, the coolant and chip evacuation system, whether it still holds tolerance, and what tooling travels with it. Jason Puuri weighs all of that against what shops are asking for right now, rather than running the machine through a formula. Photos help and are not required. Once we have the details, an offer typically comes back within 24 to 48 hours. Missing a number is fine, just tell us it is missing. Guessing at one is not.
Selling a UNISIG Direct, and What Else Goes on the Quote
MTE is a direct buyer. You sell to us, not through us, so there is no listing, no broker and no waiting on somebody else's buyer to turn up. We can arrange rigging, crating and freight, in all 50 states. We can arrange the pickup and have the machine moved, which matters more than usual here, because deep hole drills are long, heavy and awkward to move. We buy past this nameplate too. We also purchase Eldorado, TBT, Nagel and SIG gun drills, Heller and Mollart Engineering BTA machines, multi-spindle gun drilling machines and combination gun drill and BTA systems. None of those are in the UNISIG book on this page. They are on our buy list, which is a different thing. And if the UNISIG is not the only machine leaving the floor, lathes, VMCs and HMCs go on the same quote and the same pickup schedule.

Common questions
Who buys used UNISIG machines?
Machine Tool Exchange buys them outright. We are a direct buyer, not a broker and not a listing service, so you sell to us rather than through us.
Do you buy UNISIG gun drills and BTA machines both?
Both. Seven designations in this book carry BTA in the name, including USK50 BTA-2000 and B500 BTA, and we buy gun drilling machines just as readily.
What details do you need to quote a UNISIG?
Brand, model, year, condition, max drilling depth and diameter, drilling method, spindle specs and control type. Give us the full string off the data plate, not the prefix.
Will you buy a UNISIG that is a discontinued model?
Yes. Discontinued means the factory stopped building that configuration, not that the machine has no buyer. Used is the only route left for a shop that wants one.
Will you buy a UNISIG that is idle or needs spindle work?
Yes. Any condition: running, sitting idle after a job ended, or needing spindle work. Tell us upfront and the offer holds at pickup.
Can you arrange rigging and freight on a UNISIG deep hole drill?
Yes. We can arrange rigging, crating, freight and the pickup in all 50 states.
Do you buy deep hole drill brands other than UNISIG?
Yes. We also purchase Eldorado, TBT, Nagel and SIG gun drills and Heller and Mollart Engineering BTA machines, plus multi-spindle and combination gun drill and BTA systems.
Who are the manufacturers of deep hole drilling machines?
UNISIG is one of them, and it describes itself as one of the largest producers of deep hole drilling machines. It engineers and manufactures them in the USA, with its global headquarters in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, and has belonged to Entrust Manufacturing Technologies since 1995. The listings on this page are UNISIG machines only. If your deep hole drill came from another builder, it can still get an offer from us; the details we need are the same.
Is this UNISIG's official website?
No. UNISIG's own site is unisig.com, run by UNISIG, a product division of Entrust Manufacturing Technologies, Inc., which sells new deep hole drilling machines along with the tools, automation and service around them. Machine Tool Exchange is an independent buyer of used UNISIG machines. If you need a new UNISIG or a spare part, go to UNISIG directly. If you have a UNISIG you no longer need, this page is where to ask us for an offer.
What is a deep hole drilling machine?
It is a machine built to drill holes far deeper than they are wide. UNISIG defines a deep hole by its depth-to-diameter ratio, typically greater than 10:1, and says its BTA and gundrilling machines run applications beyond 400:1. Its standard models drill holes under 1 mm across in titanium medical parts, and its largest machines drill holes 500 mm in diameter more than 10 meters deep. When you sell a UNISIG, its rated depth and diameter are the first figures we ask for.
Does UNISIG make gun drills as well as machines?
Yes. Besides gundrilling machines such as the compact UNE series, the UNI production machines and the USK off-center drills, UNISIG sells gundrill tools, BTA tools and BTA drill tubes, and it calls its offer the entire deep hole drilling system: machines, tools and automation. Drills, drill tubes and whip guides that come with a used UNISIG count toward its offer, so list what is on the shelf beside the machine as well as what is in the spindle.
Thinking about selling UNISIG Machines?
Some of this UNISIG book is sizes the factory no longer lists, and those can only be bought used. That works in your favor as the seller. Send the full designation off the plate, the depth and diameter it drills, and the control, and Jason Puuri puts a number on it himself. We can arrange the rigging and freight.
