What the maker published about the Okuma MILLAC 800VH

The MILLAC 800VH from Okuma belongs to the MILLAC-VH Series: a multi-plane, 5-axis machining center that can finish several faces of a workpiece in one setup. Work is clamped on an 800 x 800 mm table rated for 1,000 kg. The maker prints one travel figure, 1,020 mm, against X, Y and Z together. Rapid moves on the linear axes reach 30 m/min, and the A and C axes swing at 3,600 deg/min. Spindle speeds run from 100 to 10,000 min-1, with power of 22/18.5 kW. Those numbers apply to a machine fitted with the OSP-P500 control. The frame rests on a box-type bed whose sliding surfaces are wide and rectangular, and the axes are driven by large ball screws held in pretensioned supports. The standard build includes a two-pallet changer of the rotary type. Okuma notes that cutting a part in one setup removes the setup errors that come with fixturing it again.

What the Okuma MILLAC 800VH is used for

For multi-face parts, Okuma's 2006 page lets the MILLAC-800VH's head tilt to any angle across a 150-degree range, so a standard end mill or face mill can stand in for a ball end mill, which shortens cutting time and makes tools last longer.

When the Okuma MILLAC 800VH was built

Okuma introduced the MILLAC-800VH no later than 2006; it appears as a five-axis MILLAC-VH model on the okuma.com page that the Internet Archive stored on October 23, 2006.
