In Okuma's MB-H Series of horizontal machining centers, the MB-5000HII sits with the MB-4000H and MB-10000H. Parts are held on a 500 x 500 mm rotary pallet, and X, Y and Z strokes of 760, 760 and 810 mm match the 760 x 760 x 810 mm machining volume the maker gives. In the OSP-P500 configuration the spindle covers a band between 50 and 15,000 rpm, while its high winding is rated at 26 kW. Okuma also names 12,000 and 20,000 min-1 spindles, and prints 30/22 and 33/26 kW motors in brackets as options. Rapid traverse on X, Y and Z is 60 m/min. A disk ATC handles tool changes; the base magazine has 48 pockets, and seven larger magazines are listed, from 64 pockets at the low end to 340 at the top. Okuma also points to redesigned in-machine covers for chip evacuation and to OSP Suite, which comes pre-loaded with apps.

For plants where floor space is tight, Okuma America's 2021 page names the MB-5000HII: against the model it replaced, Okuma says it takes up 20 percent less room and trims cycle times by up to a quarter through heavier cutting and automation, with short tool changes and fast acceleration.
