On the VTC-200G, a Mazak vertical machining center, the whole column travels while a long table stays fixed beneath it, a layout the page ties to long, heavy workpieces. The specification table on Mazak's page puts that table at 3920 mm by 510 mm, the X travel at 3660 mm and the Y travel at 510 mm. If the optional center partition is fitted, the table turns into two separate work zones: one holds a part in cycle while the next is being readied in the second. Spindle tooling is taper 40, and the top speed is 12000 rpm. Twenty-four tools wait in a magazine served by an automatic changer. Mazak says its base casting stiffens the machine for heavy loads, lets chips clear and holds down thermal distortion, and it frames the Y travel as an alternative to bridge-style machines.
