Mazak built the VORTEX e-1060V/8 as a machining center with five controlled axes, whose NC rotary table works with an indexing spindle head that tilts. A part may be up to 1250 mm in diameter and 1250 mm high. Strokes come to 1875 mm along X, 1060 mm along Y and 1345 mm along Z; for the rotary axes, B moves through 150° and C through 360.0000°. Spindle speed can climb to 10000 min-1, fed by a 37 kW / 50.0 HP motor on its 30 minute rating, and the spindle accepts shank type 50 tooling. Forty tools are carried in the automatic changer. A Matrix 2 CNC runs the machine. Support functions named for it include spindle monitoring, upkeep checks on units and consumables, thermal displacement correction, interference prevention, vibration damping and spoken setup guidance. The VORTEX e-1060V/8S is a separate model in the same series.
