On its European site Mazak presented the VARIAXIS 730-5X II, a vertical machining center for multi-sided work with all five axes under simultaneous control. In standard form the machine takes workpieces of 730 mm diameter and 500 mm height. Its rapids reach as high as 52 m/min. The three linear strokes measure 730 mm (X), 850 mm (Y) and 560 mm (Z). On A, the swing range runs from minus 120° to plus 30°; C rotation spans ±360°, and both are controlled axes. Tools are held in steep taper 50 holders, and 10,000 rpm is the spindle's speed ceiling. Thirty tool positions come with the standard machine, while tool stores holding 40, 80 or 120 tools appear as options.
