Mazak's VARIAXIS 730-5X is a multiple face machining center with simultaneous 5-axis control, in which a rotary table that tilts holds the work beneath a #50 taper spindle. Its pallet measures 630 x 500mm, the table bears 500 kg spread evenly, and work up to 1000mm by 340mm can be mounted. Strokes: X 730mm, Y 850mm, Z 560mm. Tilt on A ranges between minus 30 and plus 120 degrees, rotation on C is a full 360 degrees, both index by steps of 0.001 degree, and a 90 degree index takes 1.1 sec. At 10000 rpm the spindle reaches its limit, getting there from standstill in 3.0 sec. Linear rapids come to 40000 mm/min on all three axes. Thirty tools are stored, with a 4.5 sec chip-to-chip change, and swapping pallets on the 2PC takes 14.5 sec. The footprint needed is 2695 x 4770mm. A MAZATROL FUSION 640M 5X is the CNC.
