Mazak builds the QTU-350, a CNC turning center of compact size, from a single main turning spindle, one turret for its tools and an NC servo tailstock that is fully programmable. The spindle drive, free of belts and pulleys, grips work in a 10 in chuck and peaks at 3500 rpm; its 1 minute figure is 20.0 hp / 15 kw. On either of two beds, 500 mm or 1000 mm, the swing measures 27.40 in, machined diameter stops at 16.250 in and bar work reaches 3.0 in. Machining length is what changes: 22.233 in on the shorter bed against 43.858 in on the longer. The turret, indexed digitally by its own integral motor, holds 12 tools. Both beds give 8.50 in on the X axis, while Z reaches 25.00 in or 45.50 in and W 22.13 in or 36.75 in. A GR100 gantry loader could be paired with the lathe.
