What the maker published about the Mazak QUICK TURN SMART 250M
Built by Mazak, the SMART 250M is a CNC turning center in its M configuration, meaning a rotary tool spindle in the turret lets it drill, tap and mill as well as turn. Its 10 in chuck mounts on an integrated spindle and motor that reaches 4000 rpm and is rated at 35.0 hp / 26 kw across 30 minutes. Driven tools run to 4500 rpm, powered by 7.5 hp / 6 kw under a 10 minute rating, in a turret of 12 positions. Machining diameter is capped at 14.250 in within a 26.00 in swing, and 3.0 in (80 mm) bar stock goes through the spindle. Two beds were listed, 500U and 1000U. The shorter one machines parts 19.608 in long with 23.75 in of Z stroke; the longer one reaches 40.108 in and 44.25 in. X movement is 8.88 in on either. The Smart control reads both EIA/ISO code and Mazatrol conversational programs. Its listed characteristics include a CNC tailstock, through-hole chuck packages and an automatic tool eye.
