Mazak named the QTU-350MY HP for what it carries: M for a rotary milling spindle on the turret, Y for off-centerline travel on a Y axis, and HP for the spindle unit it is built with. That turning spindle reaches 3500 rpm, its motor rated 30.0 hp / 22 kw over 1 minute, with no belts or pulleys in its drive. Its chuck is 10 in, and it takes bar to 3.0 in. The bolt-on upper turret carries 12 stations; a 10.0 hp motor rated for 3 minutes spins its milling tools to 4500 rpm. Beds of 20 in and 40 in are printed. Machining diameter reaches 16.250 in on either, and the shorter bed swings 27.40 in. Both give 8.50 in of X stroke and 2.00 in of Y stroke; Z stroke grows from 23.75 in with the 20 in bed to 45.50 in with the 40 in bed. Its tailstock, an NC unit, has a servo drive and can be programmed, and a GR50 gantry loader was an option.
