Mazak's M-5N turning center sits on a flat bed and pairs a geared, high-torque headstock with two turrets: an octagonal disc turret at the front and a hexagonal boring turret at the rear. Its swing is 24.02 in, and work up to 22.830 in in diameter can be machined. Two bed lengths appear in the table; the shorter gives 81.890 in of machining length with 80.91 in of Z travel, the longer 122.050 in with 121.06 in. On either bed the X axis covers 22.05 in, and a W axis contributes 5.12 in more. Over a 30 minute rating the main motor gives 30.0 hp / 22 kw. A spindle bore as large as 7.1" across is optional, and with chucks fitted front and rear the machine takes large-diameter pipe.
