What the maker publishes about the current Mazak HQR 250MSY
Mazak's HQR-250MSY is a turning center with two spindles and two turrets, milling, and a Y axis on both turrets, and its specification page divides it into 850U and 1300U universal types. On the main spindle a 10 in chuck turns at up to 4000 rpm with 368.8 ft-lbs of torque, driven by 26 kW (35 HP) for 30 minutes or 22 kW (30 HP) continuously. The second spindle holds an 8 in chuck and reaches 5000 rpm on 22 kW (30 HP), with 15 kW (20 HP) continuous. Each turret carries 12 tools of 1 in shank height, and rotary tools spin at 6000 rpm from a motor rated 5.5 kW (7.5 HP) on its 10 minute rating. In 2017 Mazak's American site had the HQR-250MSY finishing parts complete, raw material in and done part out, without a second setup; both of its turrets carry a Y axis for off-center milling, and the page gives two bed lengths, the 850U for parts up to 33.9 in long and the 1300U for parts up to 52.2 in, each up to 13.5 in across.
