What the maker publishes about the current Makino U86
Makino builds the U86 as a large wire EDM machine. Its table measures 48" x 35.8", axis travel is 31.5" in X and 23.6" in Y, and the U and V axes each move ±3.98". A longer Z stroke is an option, and either stroke positions from Z zero to its full height. The work tank rises and falls on three sides and can be filled to 50mm (1.96") over the top Z position. Parts may weigh up to 3,000kg (6,614 lbs.). The table stays fixed while the machine cuts, and the dielectric reservoir is built into the base casting. H.E.A.T. is standard: two flush pumps under CNC control raise flushing pressure and volume for parts that are hard to flush. Split-V wire guides are fitted, and wire threads automatically at full Z height. Wire of 0.008", 0.010" or 0.012" can be run. Control is Makino's Hyper i, with a 24" class touch screen.
