What the maker published about the Hermle C-30U

Hermle published technical data for the C 30 U covering three linear axes, a tool spindle in four versions, a tool magazine and two control choices. The X stroke was 650 mm; Y had 600 mm of travel and Z had 500 mm. Rapids on all three axes reached 45 m/min, with linear acceleration of 6 m/s². The spindle versions were separate choices: 10,000 rpm with SK 40 or HSK A 63 holders, whose 20 percent duty rating was 32 kW with 200 Nm; 18,000 rpm, again SK 40 or HSK A 63, for 15 kW with 130 Nm; 28,000 rpm with HSK A 63, for 23 kW with 79 Nm; and 40,000 rpm with HSK E 40, for 26 kW with 7.5 Nm. Those last three ratings were given at 40 percent duty. The magazine had 32 pockets, and chip to chip time was 5.5 seconds. Heidenhain iTNC 530 and Siemens Sinumerik 840 D were the two alternative controls.

Hermle's 2003 page presents the C 30 U as a universal five-axis machining center built as a modular kit, which runs from a pallet changer for setting up the next part during the cut to a full production cell, with wet or dry cutting and a graphite option for making electrodes.
