Hermle's own record of the C 22 U is thin: the cited page is an English user report about Marten Machining of Wisconsin, which names the machine in its title and says the shop's Hermle line runs from an older C 800 to its newest C 22. The working figures come from Hermle's English technical data sheet for the C 22 basic machine. It travels 450 mm in X, 600 mm in Y and 330 mm in Z, with linear rapids of 30 m/min, or 50 m/min in the dynamic version. Spindle choices on that sheet are 15,000 rpm with an SK 40 taper, 18,000 rpm with HSK A 63, 30,000 rpm and 42,000 rpm. For five axis work the NC swivelling rotary table carries a Ø 320 mm clamping plate and swings plus or minus 135 degrees. The tool changer holds 55 or 65 pockets, with a chip to chip time near 4.5 seconds. Heidenhain and Siemens controls were both listed.
