EMAG's VL 3 DUO is a vertical CNC turning machine built around two work areas that sit side by side as mirror images, one for OP 10 and one for OP 20, each driven by its own working spindle. Chucked parts may reach 150 mm in diameter and 110 mm in length, and chucks go up to 210 mm. Every spindle loads itself from its own parts store, reaches a top speed of 5,000 rpm and is rated 17.9 kW at 40 % duty or 15.5 kW at 100 %, with 144 and 98 Nm of torque on those cycles. Each area carries a 12-position turret that holds driven tools alongside static turning tools. The slides travel 505 mm on X and 250 mm on Z; a Y axis of ± 30 mm is optional. The TrackMotion system is also optional: a TransLift gripper runs on a track behind both work areas, turns each part over between the two operations and feeds a parts store holding up to 400 pieces.
