With the 42HD-84, Blanchard produced a rotary surface grinder for large parts, turning them on an 84 inch magnetic chuck. Swing extends to 96 inches, while the load limit on the chuck is 22,000 lbs. The chuck's speed lies between 3 and 11.9 RPM. A 150 HP motor turns the grinding spindle as standard; a stronger spindle motor and a taller workpiece height are both options. Bourn & Koch gives a 33 inch vertical range for the grinder it makes, with 48 or 60 inches optional, and 24 inches of carriage travel on X. That page also describes a one piece steel chuck worked by DC power, a cast iron table body and a column resting on three point support. A wheel dresser, spark out with retract, automatic lubrication and door interlocks come standard on the machines Bourn & Koch builds, while magnetic separators, a full enclosure and stainless guards are extras.
