Haas builds the VF-7/40 as one of the large-frame models in its VF Series: a vertical machining center with a 40-taper spindle and three axes. X travel is 84.00 in, Y travel 32.00 in and Z travel 30.00 in, and the spindle nose ranges from 4.0 in to 34.0 in above the table. The table is 84.0 in long and 28.0 in wide, has five T-slots and carries up to 4000 lb spread evenly. Its inline direct-drive spindle runs to 8100 rpm at 30.0 hp and makes 90.0 ft-lbf at 2000 rpm; an optional gearbox raises torque to 250 ft-lbf at 450 rpm. CT40, BT40 and HSK-A63 tapers are listed. Standard equipment on the large frames includes a side-mount changer with 30+1 pockets, a chip auger, a programmable coolant nozzle and a remote jog handle. Tool changes average 2.80 s. Rapids reach 600 ipm on each axis, cutting feed is 500 ipm, and the coolant tank holds 95 gal.
