Metal Cutting
17 Haas VF-4B listings have come through the used market we track: 8 marketplaces, built 1998–2008 where given.
An archived Haas page for the VF-4B shows a vertical machining center, 40-taper, with an X stroke of 50 in, a Y stroke of 20 in and a Z stroke of 25 in (1,270, 508 and 635 mm); in the body text the machine is named the VF-4. Haas sorts it as a medium-footprint mill with a gear drive, built on cast-iron components made in America. Its cartridge spindle gets power from a vector motor of 20 hp, of the Dual-Drive kind, by way of a 2-speed geared head, yielding 250 ft-lb at the low speed of 450 rpm, and it runs up to 7,500 rpm inside 5 seconds when aluminum needs a finish cut. According to the maker, ongoing refinements flow into production as customers report back. Haas grouped many of its options into packages.
