What the maker published about the Haas VF-2B

On an archived Haas page headed VF-2B, the machine is a gear-driven vertical machining center with 30 x 16 x 20 in (762, 406 and 508 mm) of travel on X, Y and Z, though the text itself calls it the VF-2. Its castings are American-made cast iron. A 40-taper cartridge spindle gets its power from a 20 hp Dual-Drive vector motor through a 2-speed geared head. Through that gearing it gives 250 ft-lb at a low 450 rpm, and the spindle still climbs to 7,500 rpm in under 5 seconds for aluminum finishing passes. Haas describes the machine as small in footprint and says refinements drawn from customer comments are worked into production daily. Many of the options came grouped into packages.

The VF-2B was in production by November 2001: a copy of Haas's product page that the Internet Archive kept on November 28, 2001 is headed VF-2B, though the body text names the mill VF-2.
