The spindle, driven inline and directly, turns up to 10000 rpm on a 15.0 hp rating. Its maximum torque is 46.0 ft-lbf, reached at 1700 rpm. Tapping is rated to 5000 rpm. Its side-mount changer stores 18+1 tools. Tool changes average 1.75 s, with a chip-to-chip figure of 2.00 s. Tools are capped at 2.5 in across, 12.0 lb, and 7.00 in measured from the gage line. X, Y and Z rapids are 2400 ipm, and cutting feeds run as fast as 1200 ipm. Nose clearance over the table is 6.0 in minimum and 21.5 in maximum.

A copy of Haas Automation's own DM-2 page, saved by the Internet Archive on August 15, 2016, already lists the machine as a drill and mill center, so the DM-2 had been introduced by 2016.
