Okamoto Machine Tool Works presents the IGM2MB on its Japanese site as the newest of its general purpose internal grinders, built so that sets of machining conditions can be saved as recipes. The page says it is the first of these grinders to carry a digital conversion function: besides data typed in on the LCD screen, it records the grinding conditions chosen on selector switches and the table speed setting, and up to 36 sets of machining conditions can be stored. Ball screws and linear guides drive and guide the table, so the machine runs without hydraulics and there is no hydraulic oil to hold at temperature or change. Table positions are entered by teaching, with picture symbols shown on the operating screen, a method carried over from the model before it. The company groups the machine with its grinders and names the Annaka plant in Gunma Prefecture as its head office and works.
