What the maker published about the Mazak VCU-500/5X
Shortened to VCU-500/5X, Mazak's VERTICAL CENTER UNIVERSAL 500 5X takes up little floor space and works in five axes by means of a rotary and tilting table under a vertical spindle. Roller gear cams turn that table with no backlash, and the C axis indexes through 360.0000 degrees. A part as wide as 500 mm and as tall as 305 mm will fit. X and Y travel 505 mm apiece; Z gets 510 mm. The specification table lists a 40 taper spindle at 10000 rpm, rated 15.0 hp / 11 kw across 30 minutes, and the description says spindles with other top speeds were options. Magazine size reads 20 tools in the figures, and the feature list also names a 30-tool version; both use an automatic changer. MATRIX 2 handles the CNC side, MX Hybrid Roller guides carry the axes, and articulated robots can take over loading and unloading.
