Mazak's VERTICAL CENTER NEXUS 700D/50-II pairs a vertical machining center frame with a high torque, 50-taper spindle whose speed limit is 6000 rpm. Mazak gave its motor 30.0 hp / 22 kw across a 30 minute period. Along X the stroke is 60.24 in / 1530 mm; the cross stroke is 27.56 in / 700 mm and the vertical stroke 25.59 in / 650 mm. From right to left the table spans 68.500 in / 1740 mm. A magazine of 30 tools serves the spindle, and a two-pallet changer could be ordered as an option. Programs run on a Matrix Nexus 2 control, entered either in conversational form or as EIA code. Each axis moves on MX hybrid roller guides, the control panel can be swung round to face whoever stands at the machine, and Intelligent Machine features are part of the specification.
