Mazak fitted the VARIAXIS j-600, a vertical machining center filed under 5-axis work, with a table that both rotates and tilts, for multi-surface machining done in one setup. Simultaneous motion covers four axes, and the A axis indexes. A part up to 730 mm in diameter and 450 mm tall fits the machine. X has 850 mm of stroke, Y 550 mm and Z 510 mm, each on linear roller guides. The 40 taper spindle is rated 12000 rpm and 11 kw for 30 minutes, though the feature list also mentions 18,000 as a spindle speed. In the figures, tilt spans 210 degrees and table indexing 360 degrees. Eighteen tools make up the magazine figure, with a version holding 30 tools also named, and tool changes happen without returning the table to its home position. A 94.5" by 123.4" footprint is given, and the two-pallet changer is an option.
