Mazak built the VARIAXIS i-600 as a vertical machining center with full simultaneous 5-axis motion, meant for curved surfaces on small and medium-sized workpieces finished in one setup. Parts can measure up to 23.620 in across and 19.690 in tall. X travel is 20.08 in, Y travel is 35.83 in and Z travel is 20.08 in. A tilting table swings through 150 degrees in A, while the C axis indexes a full 360 degrees, and roller gear cams in the table remove backlash. Its No. 40 taper spindle reaches 12000 rpm and carries a 30.0 hp rating for 30 minutes. The magazine is listed at 30 tools, tool storage capacities reaching 120 tools are also listed, and a cam-driven changer swaps them. Guideways are of the MX Hybrid Roller Guide System type.
