Mazak's SLANT TURN 500 is a CNC turning center built on five bed types: a C chucker and the 1000U, 2000U, 3000U and 4000U universal versions. On every bed type it machines diameters up to Φ36" and mounts an 18" chuck. Spindle speed tops out at 1600 rpm through a Φ7" bore, and the motor is rated at 45 kW (60 HP) for 30 minutes or 37 kW (50 HP) continuously, with maximum torque of 5163 ft-lbs. Its turret holds 12 tools, with 1" shank tooling and Φ2" boring bars. All versions share 18" of X travel, and rapids are 787 IPM in X and 945 IPM in Z. The bed sets the machining length: 41" for the C and 1000U, then 80", 125" and 160", while Z travel grows from 46" to 165". The universal beds carry a tailstock with an MT No.6 center, and an automatic steady rest is optional on the 2000U, 3000U and 4000U. Height is 103", and weight runs from 30423 lbs to 49383 lbs.
