What the maker publishes about the current Mazak QT 450M
An 18" chuck and a 2000 rpm spindle ceiling anchor the Mazak QT 450M, a CNC lathe that also mills. Mazak publishes it in two universal types, a 40" and an 80" version, which its selector calls 1000U and 2000U. Their capacities match. Work may swing Φ33" and be machined to Φ23" in diameter, and bar work is rated at Φ7". Both versions carry 12 tools on the turret, and the lineup card for the 450M tags it for milling with a VDI turret. That card prints the machining diameter as Φ22.83", against the Φ23" of the specification table. Cross travel on X is 14" whichever type is chosen. Bed length is where the two part ways: Z travel reaches 42" on the 40" type and 83" on the 80" type. Mazak sorts the 450M with its 18 / 21 inch chuck turning models, beside the plain 450 and the 450MY.

What the Mazak QT 450M is used for
Mazak's 2019 page calls the QT 450M Kentucky-made and points it at medium and larger-diameter turned parts, with a 7.28 in spindle bore for through-hole work, a 50 hp integral spindle motor with no belts or gears, rotary milling tools and a programmable tailstock, on beds of 1,000, 2,000 or 3,000 mm.
