Mazak sized the HORIZONTAL CENTER NEXUS 12800-II, a horizontal machining center, around 1250 mm pallets, with a two pallet changer fitted from the factory, though a single pallet specification existed too. Workpieces reach 2,400 mm in diameter and 2,000 mm in height, or 3,000 mm across in an optional size, and may weigh 6,000 kg, or 8,000 kg with the heavier option. X has 2200 mm of stroke, Z 1850 mm and Y 1600 mm. The spindle fitted as standard takes 50 taper tools and spins to 10,000 min-1 on 37 kW / 50.0 HP, a 30 minute figure, and 80 tools are held for the changer. The page lists a Matrix Nexus 2 CNC, and a modular automation system can extend the cell for long unattended runs.
