Makino's T2 is a five-axis horizontal machining center that the maker lists for large titanium and titanium alloy aerospace parts, naming edge frames, pylons and bulkheads. It works on a 1,000 mm x 1,250 mm pallet; X and Y each stroke 2,000 mm, and Z strokes 1,800 mm. The A axis tilts +/- 110°, while B and C are each listed as 360° infinite. The spindle turns up to 4,000 RPM, with 100 kW and 1,000 Nm continuous. Rapid traverse and cutting feedrate both reach 16,000 mm/min. The largest workpiece is ø1,900 x 2,000 mm, and payload is 5,000 kg. The changer holds 120 tools, and a 190 tool magazine is optional. A tool change takes 20 sec tool to tool and 40 sec chip to chip, for tools up to 300 mm across and 30 kg. Through-spindle coolant runs at 7 MPa and 200 L/min, nozzle coolant at 1.5 MPa and 50 L/min, and the machine also includes an Active Dampening System.
