What the maker publishes about the current Makino MAG1

Makino's MAG1 is a 5-axis horizontal machining center for monolithic aluminum aerospace parts. The machine reaches five faces of the workpiece. The pallet measures 800 x 1000 mm. Travels are 1,520 mm in X, 1,100 mm in Y and 1,350 mm in Z. The A-axis tilts through 210° (-110° to +100°), and the B-axis rotates 360°. There is no C-axis. The spindle runs to 33,000 rpm and is rated at 120 kW, listed as 161 HP. Rapid traverse and cutting feed both reach 50,000 mm/min. Parts up to ø1,500 x 1,500 mm and 1,300 kg fit the machine. The standard magazine holds 120 tools, with 241 as an option. A tool change takes 17 sec tool to tool and 20 sec chip to chip. Tools can be up to 90 mm in diameter and 8 kg in weight. As an option, the MAG1 can be tied into Makino's MMC system, which moves and stores pallets automatically for unattended running.
