What the maker published about the Hyundai WIA L400C

A 45° slant bed, laid out with finite element analysis to damp vibration and hold down thermal growth, is the base of Hyundai WIA's L400C turning center. The axes ride on box guideways. Between motor and spindle sits a two step gearbox, with strong torque in the low range and higher speed for finishing passes; the spindle peaks at 2,000 rpm and the motor at 26/22 kW. A 15 in chuck is standard, and bar of 4.61 in passes through. The L400C swings 30.7 in over the bed, the most of the three models on its page, and turns parts up to 47.2 in (1,200 mm) long. X has 12.8 in of travel and Z 47.4 in, with an X rapid of 803 ipm. A BMT75 turret is fitted as standard, with a VDI50 turret as the alternative, and a tailstock built into the bed can be run automatically or by hand.
